Although the loss of a client with a $1.08 billion deposit probably is certain to cause discussions at UMB Bank, it's doubtful the situation will harm the bank in the long run.
UMB remains one of the strongest, most well-capitalized banks in the Kansas City area. It had a core capital ratio of 6.24 percent as of June 30, well above the 4 percent minimum to be considered a well-capitalized bank.
