The Kansas City Business Journal’s most recent list of the area’s Top 25 Area Public Companies, compiled in June, reveals that women hold 10.3 percent of the total board seats.
The area’s public companies have 194 total board positions, and women hold 20 of them.
For example, the top five companies have 42 board seats, and women fill four of them. Those companies are Sprint Corp., Seaboard Corp., YRC Worldwide Inc., H&R Block Inc. and Kansas City Southern.
