The Kansas City metro area ranks among the top 50 metropolitan areas for exports, according to a report by the International Trade Administration.
About 2,100 area companies exported $8 billion in merchandise in 2013, ranking the area 41st in the nation. Kansas City’s exporting rose $131.3 million, or 1.7 percent, from the previous year.
The top nation receiving local exports was Canada with $2.1 billion, or 26 percent of all exports. Mexico was second with $1.9 billion, or 23.7 percent. China…
