BATS Global Markets announced that William O'Brien vacated his position as president, effective immediately.
BATS said CEO Joe Ratterman will permanently add the duties of president to his current role. Ratterman was president and CEO of BATS from 2007 through the company's merger with Direct Edge Holdings LLC, where O'Brien was CEO.
On Tuesday, the company declined to say whether O'Brien quit or was fired and why the situation occurred only six months after the merger.
