Although its legitimately concerned about the lack of recovery in net interest income for banks under $1 billion in assets, the Federal Reserve Bank continued to express optimism in the industry's ability to rebound.
Net interest income, which is the difference between the interest on deposits that a bank pays to customers and the interest on loans that customers pay the bank, accounts for 77 percent of total revenue at community banks which have less than $1 billion in assets.
