Kansas is one of the top 10 best states to make a living, according to a study by MoneyRates.com.
The 2013 List of Best States to Make A Living looked at average wage and unemployment data, cost of living, state tax rates and workplace environment.
Kansas ranked ninth on the list, after placing 19th the prior year. Missouri ranked 14th, up from 20th a year ago.
The 2013 list was topped by Washington, Virginia and Colorado. The worst states were Hawaii, Maine and Vermont.
