Ford Motor Co. needs to do some retooling at its F-150 production plants in Kansas City and Dearborn, Mich., in order to produce the newly designed 2015 model, leading to significant down time.
During an earnings conference call, Ford CEO Alan Mulally said the company scheduled two weeks of idle time for the F-150 side of the Kansas City Assembly Plant this year. The plant will see "additional" downtime in 2015. Ford also plans to idle its Dearborn Plant for 11 weeks this year.
