The area economy is losing $20.4 million every week the strike continues at General Motors Co.'s Fairfax Assembly Plant, according to estimates by the Center for Automotive Research.
That's because the Kansas City, Kan., plant employs 2,177 people and, for every one of those jobs, another six is supported.
