Kansas City-based Alphapointe — a nonprofit that is one of the nation’s largest employers of the blind — received approval from the U.S Department of Defense for its new-and-improved tactical medical tourniquet.
The approval means the Alphapointe product will be listed as a recommended limb tourniquet for the U.S. military. The nonprofit said military contracts for the device could be worth more than $10 million a year.
