A study by the Economic Policy Institute shows that a vast majority of Americans are unprepared for retirement, and the situation appears to be getting worse.
Participation in employer-based retirement plans by workers age 25-61 declined from 52 percent in 2000 to 45 percent in 2010.
“Successive generations should be saving more in retirement accounts due to their higher average incomes, the shift from pensions to individual savings, and Social Security benefits cuts,” the EPI study stated.…
