Ford Motor Co. plans to idle the Transit van production and stamping lines at its Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo to better align production with demand.
The move affects about 2,000 workers, placing them on temporary layoff from Oct. 22 through Nov. 4. A local chapter of the United Automobile Workers union is encouraging its workers to apply for unemployment benefits during the temporary layoff.
