Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens appointed Cory Atkins of Independence as an associate judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit, which covers Jackson County.
Atkins succeeds Associate Judge Jalilah Otto of Kansas City, who was appointed by Greitens as a circuit court judge in October. She replaced Judge Robert Schieber, who retired after 17 years on the bench.
