Utah-based Vivint Inc. agreed to pay $10 million to ADT Corp. to settle a lawsuit accusing them of using deceptive trade practices to steal ADT clients.
ADT (NYSE: ADT) alleged that Vivint was sending its salespeople to the homes of ADT clients, then misleading the customers into believing that Vivint represented or was affiliated with ADT and was there to upgrade the equipment. In reality, ADT said Vivint was converting its customers.
