General Motors' Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kan., received an Energy Star certificate from the Environmental Protection Agency, becoming only the second industrial plant in Kansas to earn the designation.
The certification requires measuring and tracking energy use, water use and greenhouse gas emissions. The data are compared with benchmarks and similar plants nationwide to create a score of between 1 to 100. Facilities must earn at least 75 to be eligible to apply for certification.…
