Ford Motor Co. is celebrating its 100th anniversary of truck production, including 50 years of building the vehicles in Kansas City.
On July 27, 1917, the first Ford Model TT truck rolled off the production line, using the Model T cab and engine but built with a heavy-duty frame capable of carrying a 1-ton payload. Ford sold 209 of the trucks that year for $600 each.
Today, the F-series truck has been the best-selling vehicle in America for 35 years, with 820,799 sold last year.
