Salina-based Sunflower Financial Inc. completed its merger with Texas-based Strategic Growth Bancorp Inc. on Monday, making its new holding company, FirstSun Capital Bancorp, the third largest in Colorado.
The newly merged entity will be based in Denver and retain the Sunflower Bank brand in Colorado, Kansas and Missouri. It will operate as First National 1870 in New Mexico and Texas. Sunflower Bank CEO Mollie Hale Carter will retain that role and be CEO of the holding company.
