Kansas State Treasurer Ron Estes isn't a fan of Gov. Sam Brownback's plan to divert $40.7 million from the state's pension plan in order to address a projected $280 million state budget shortfall.
Estes argues that the decision to delay state contributions to the underfunded Kansas Public Employee Retirement System, just exacerbates the current $9.77 billion shortfall in the system that provides retirement pensions for the state's teachers, police, firefighters, judges and others.
